MGS4: Guns of the Patriots
I thoght it would only be fitting if the first Sony thread was devoted to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - a shoe in to contend with GTA4 for 2008's video game of the year award.
I personally can't wait - it's the only game I could see myself wanting to play when I purchased a PS3, as far as exclusives are concerned, and I threw down my $90 for the limited edition, no research, no questions asked. And the day is finally approacing - June 12th, 10 years to the day since the release of Metal Gear Solid on the original Sony Playstation - a truly groundbreaking experience.
Well, 10 years and 2 games later, we're finally here - the 4th and final installment. All this technology, all this concentration on plot and cinematics, the improvement in gameplay, the addition of online....
..... PS3 owners, I think we're in for a treat.

Contend? If it doesn't unseat it, I'd be surprised.

I've got my lawn chair out now. Just called Best Buy and they've got a line forming already, 3.5 hours until midnight, headed there now.
Did I mention it's raining? This is the only game I would ever do this for.

Wow... I feel like all major video game reviewers need to re-invent their scoring systems after playing this game - it's not on the same level as other games that have gotten 10/10, it's just not. I can't possibly say anything else at the risk of ruining the experience - which is truyly amazing.

Re: MGS4: Guns of the Patriots
Really? Way better 10/10 than GTAIV?

Yes, that's what I mean, all the other games in the past three years that have been given a 10/10 aren't deserving of it anymore if and when this game gets 10/10. I loved Gears of War, many of you know that as I've argued how deserving it was of a perfect score many times - well, after playing MGS4, I can honestly say GoW deserved maybe a 9.0. GTA4 is in the same boat here, maybe a 9.0.
This game truly defines perfection. Online is a TOTALLY unnecessary addition - this game offers more content than any I've ever played.

Re: MGS4: Guns of the Patriots
I would have guessed this score before I was 5 minutes into the game. Most deserving 10/10 GameInformer has ever given.
